We proudly introduce the newest measure of mobility: The Vagabond Portable Power System, designed to provide portable power for all of our AlienBees flash units. Your studio lights can now become your location lights as well! Rather than fussing with a battery-pack, lights and expensive inverters, we offer a solution that allows you to provide your own power for our existing lights.

The Vagabond will provide power for your entire studio setup, capable of powering up to ten lights with the V150 model, and up to twenty lights with the V300 model. The Vagabond is ready to power your lights shoot after shoot, recharging anywhere in the world with its universal 90-270 Volt charger.

The heart of the Vagabond system is the CU-150 power converter unit(s). The CU-150 unit(s) convert the current from the 12 volt internal battery to a 120 Vac 60 Hz current-controlled, true sine wave power source, specifically engineered for powering Paul C. Buff, Inc. flash units. During the recycle period, the CU-150 supplies recycling current at the rate of 150 wattseconds per second. This current is shared between any number of flash units that are connected to it, automatically adjusting the system recycle time.

Whether you get the Vagabond 150 or 300, you will use one battery, and either one or two CU-150 converting units. In the Vagabond 300, having the second CU-150 makes the recycle faster in multi-light setups by dividing the recycling current of two or more lights between two converters. The Vagabond 300 also makes your system failsafe. With either system, the battery is the same, charged with the provided BC15 global battery charger.

• The Vagabond Carrying Bag is a padded, easy-to-carry bag that arrives with all parts assembled, and has a comfortable, wide shoulder strap for ease in traveling.

• The Vagabond System will arrive with either one CU-150 (for the V150) or two (for the V300), securely in place inside the Vagabond Carrying Bag.

• Located in the front pouch of the Vagabond Carrying Bag are the VBC Global Battery Charger and the Car Cigarette Lighter Adaptor.

• When you unzip the top of your Vagabond Carrying Bag, the CU-150 Power Converter(s) are revealed. You can either plug your lights directly into these outlets, or plug in a power strip for powering multiple lights. Here, you will find the power button, turning your system on, and the ready light that indicates the status of the system.
